Found this note in the book!

Is this a library book? That’s AMAZING.

why is it so easy to stay awake until 6 am but so hard to wake up at 6 am

"I’m the sixth in our family to go to Hogwarts. You could say I got a lot to live up to. Bill and Charlie have already left – Bill was head boy and Charlie was captain of Quidditch. Now Percy’s a prefect. Fred and George mess around a lot, but they still get really good marks and everyone thinks they’re really funny. Everyone expects me to do as well as the others, but if I do, it’s no big deal, because they did it first."

Please don’t tell girls “The boy who’s picking on you actually just likes you”

Even if it’s true, you shouldn’t teach girls to respect that sort of affection.

And you should definitely not teach boys that expressing their attraction to women through violence and disrespect is ok.

THANK YOU

OH MY ACTUAL LORD, THIS. 1,000 times this.

I hated hearing this as a girl (and I heard it A LOT. A LOT A LOT.). How about boys were teasing us because THEY WERE BEING ASSHOLES. Some of them just wanted to make me feel like crap and liking me had nothing to do with it, but even if it did, THAT IS A TERRIBLE WAY TO TREAT A HUMAN BEING.

as-howarth said: Hey John, what is your reaction to the news that the Riverside district has chosen to ban TFIOS from middle school libraries on the grounds that it deals with mortality and sex? I remember your reactions to similar situations concerning your books have been pretty animated and wondered what you thought?

fishingboatproceeds:

I guess I am both happy and sad.

I am happy because apparently young people in Riverside, California will never witness or experience mortality since they won’t be reading my book, which is great for them.

But I am also sad because I was really hoping I would be able to introduce the idea that human beings die to the children of Riverside, California and thereby crush their dreams of immortality.

medusa, trying to turn you to stone, but you accidentally called her “melissa” when you first walked in and now you’re too embarrassed to look at her. “it’s alright” she keeps saying “i get it all the time” but you still won’t look. u don’t even remember the stone thing until later
